Tallgrass Learning Center
Welcome to 2011-2012 school year. My name is David Cromer and I am honored to be the principal of the Tallgrass Student Learning Center. Please call us at 339-4270 if you have any questions.

Tallgrass is a small school designed to provide a quality academic program within a highly structured school environment to support appropriate school behaviors. Students attending Tallgrass are placed here through their Individual Education Plan's (IEP) placement process. We provide service to 7th - 12th grade students with significant emotional and/or behavioral disabilities.

If you are enrolling before school starts: (Tallgrass uses the HS and MS enrollment dates.)
  • Returning students should enroll at the WRMS or WRHS, depending upon their grade level. Please inform the enrollment staff that you are attending Tallgrass. Some HS and MS fees do not apply to Tallgrass students. Tallgrass students that are taking some classes at the HS can get their HS schedule and pay any necessary fees.
  • New students that have an IEP and assume they will be attending Tallgrass will need to go to WRMS or WRHS (depending on your grade level) and inform the school psychologist that you are a new student. (MS - Mrs. Jones, HS = Ms. Hamilton) They will review your IEP and determine if Tallgrass placement is appropriate. If you will be attending Tallgrass, then we will contact you and set up an appointment for you to tour the building and meet with staff. We would like for you to be familiar with us before the first day of school.
  • All Tallgrass students will get their class schedule the day school starts.
  • No school supplies are needed at Tallgrass. We provide everything.
If you are enrolling after the first day of school:
  • Please call the school's office at 339-4270 and we will help you with this process.
The Tallgrass staff comprises of four special education teachers, four para-professionals, a full-time social work, a school secretary, and a school nurse. We all are highly committed to the individual academic and behavioral success of each student.

Each student at Tallgrass will experience a strong sense of "family" from all staff members. We meet challenges together, support each other, and celebrate successes. We like to have fun with our students in our safe and structured environment while we challenge them with our high academic learning expectations. We care about each student no matter what challenges they are facing. We are here to help and support each student because their education is so important to their future successes.

Welcome to a new school year.
